Most people either talk about politics, or prefer to remain silent about it ...but eventually, most everyone comes around to choosing a candidate that they vote for. Voting is a privilege, and a responsibility. We are also privileged to have much entertainment, in the way of sports and music ...but it is not a responsibility. Perhaps we can like different sports teams, and like different music ...and I guess we can even get competitive with it (hopefully in a friendly manner). And I know that during certain isolated events, there have been hostilities, but mostly we respect the fact that someone likes a different team, and the competition can be fun.

I don't see this same sort of fun on the political scene.  I see cruel and offensive tactics ...and I understand why some of you say you are sick of politics.

So, let's move on to another subject. It's natural to want to share the things that are most important, or special to you.

Most of you remember your last vacation ..and perhaps are already looking forward to your next.  I hear of places visited, and things seen.  I've heard of great restaurants that you've shared about ...and many of you describe them as awesome experiences.

Well, I believe in God, and I view Him as awesome.

How many of you believe in God, but don't want to talk about Him?

If you are a gal ...do you consider it more complimentary to be called pretty, or smart?

And if you are a guy, do you consider it more of an insult to be called weak, or stupid?

Whether we like it, or not ...we all are competitive to some degree.

How many of us would admit we are competitive with God?

That may sound ludicrous, but let me try another angle.

In my family, we have three violin players, and one cello player.  If it were possible that we could have lived next door to Mozart or Beethoven ...I doubt any of my family would visit next door in an attempt to teach either of those men anything.   I believe that all who love music ...would be eagerly attentive to learn all they could from those two geniuses.

What I'm trying to say, is ...I believe in God, and I want to be attentive to Him. I know with certainty that I do not know more than God.

He created man and woman with a form and function, called reproduction, which eventually led to me ...and you.

As cool as other theories may be, I believe in the fact that God exists, and He is who He is ...and He created us in His image.

We don't create the image of who He is ...we may try, but that doesn't change who He really is.

God created us ...and gave us guidelines to govern our lives. Those who are to lead us ...should lead us according to His standards.

In the past, the elders of the people did much of the guiding.  But we are a competitive sort ...and we don't always like our elders to lead.  And neither may I, if they, in turn, don't govern their lives according to God.  Election time is a unique time when young adults have the same voice as their elders.

Oops ...sorry, I was going to stay away from talking about politics.

Let's stick to the discussion of God governing our lives ...and those who best help us achieve that.
